Tanya and the Wow Factor!

Our lovely bride Tanya certainly knew what she wanted!

“When people see the room, I want them to be totally blown away by the flowers,” she told us during her consultation at our boutique shop in Hatter Street, Bury St Edmunds.”

This is mana from heaven for a wedding florist and the talented Tudor Rose team ran with the exciting brief.

Tanya’s theme was floral opulence – nude pinks, blush pinks and ivories, and…wait for it…the icing on the cake…everything to be finished with splendid touches of rose gold.

So far, so good – this theme is a great start for the big WOW!

A waterfall-style display tumbling from the stunning Minstrel’s Gallery at Tanya’s beautiful wedding venue, Hengrave Hall, in the heart of Suffolk, 10 giant fluted vases topped with dramatic floral displays for the Long Gallery at the stately home and a gorgeous flower frame for her table plan made it a dead cert – Tanya (not forgetting her handsome groom, Chris) would indeed get her WOW.

And so it was…

In a message a few days later, Tanya told us: “To say we were blown away with the flowers would be an understatement! They were so unbelievably beautiful – serious flower goals. Thank you…for providing a faultless service for our big day.”

Moongate gets off to a frosty start…

How about a floral moongate down by the jetty? Great idea, we thought…

All the rage, the fabulous floral wheels reflect the rings exchanged during the marriage ceremony as well as being an utterly beautiful backdrop for those all important wedding photos.

The lovely wedding planners, Alex and Kayleigh, at Le Talbooth, on the banks of the Stour at Dedham, in the heart of Constable country, were delighted when we suggested making one for their wedding show a few weeks back and thought it would look perfect down by the water – with the beautiful marquee in the background.

They, of course, didn’t have to be down by the river at the stunning Essex wedding venue at the crack of dawn on rather a frosty spring morning.

Yes the gardens looked gorgeous bursting into life, the lawns were beautifully striped – if rather white – and the birds were building to a wonderful crescendo of song.

But my goodness it was cold down there for the pair of us – the Tudor Rose Florist stalwarts – busy while everyone else was sipping their morning coffee and tucking into bacon sarnies (writing this sentence after porridge for breakfast was a serous mistake!).

All, however, was worth the early start and the freezing hands and reaction to the latest in floristry fashions was wonderful (as was the coffee!).

Have a look through the gallery of the beautiful moongate – packed with gorgeous plump headed Meije roses and finished with some stunning burgundy ranunculus which make the whole thing come alive – and take a look at the time lapse of Danny working his magic (you can also spot me…clearing up!!).

For more information about the moongate do drop us an email or call the shop in Bury St Edmunds in the heart of Suffolk.

Jennifer & Phil – Hengrave Hall

The gorgeous wedding of Jennifer & Phil at Hengrave Hall – captured beautifully in these professional photographs by Martin Beard

We LOVE creating floral displays that are in a different league and that literally take your breath away, which is why creating cascades from the minstrel’s gallery at Hengrave hall is just up our street! The dark panelled walls and high ceilings are just perfect for it!

Jennifer & Phil opted for a a white and blush pink colour scheme for their wedding back in 2017. The cascade contained Phalaenopsis orchids to create that gorgeous trail coming down. Masses of roses and other summer blooms filled out the top to add the soft pink to follow the theme.

Martin Beard perfectly captured the love and laughter that filled the day, long may that happiness last into their marriage!

Susanne & Scott – The Swan at Lavenham

The Swan at Lavenham is one of the finest intimate wedding venues in Suffolk. Set in the medieval village steeped in history it is truly a magical place get married.

It was the setting for Susanne and Scott’s intimate wedding back in 2017. They opted for delicate jars to dress the tables with which suited the room perfectly. And to make sure your eye was not all at one level, they chose to have gorgeous garlands to adorn the beams above where they wed and had their wedding breakfast.

A soft neutral colour pallet of whites and creams complimented the timber beams so elegantly.

As we were based in Lavenham for many years before moving our shop to Bury St Edmunds, we know the swan well and love doing weddings at this beautiful venue.

Susanne held a bespoke Tudor Rose bridal bouquet of scented Peonies and Sweetpeas, Rosemary and Ranunculus.

Simply devine!

Mother of the bride Samantha was such a dream to work with. Leaving so much of the flower choices up to us meant we had free reign to design these beautiful arrangements for her daughters wedding.

Valentines Day at Tudor Rose

Valentine’s Day! The day of love, romance and of course… Red Roses!

For the last 17 years Tudor Rose has been creating the most gorgeous bouquets from our shop in Bury St Edmunds.

It all starts with the auctions where Danny purchases the finest Red Roses, Foliage’s and other mixed blooms from our suppliers in Holland. They are then delivered to us at the shop ready for phase two. They then have to be meticulously conditioned by us, checking that each stem is of the highest quality. They are put into fresh water with flower food added to keep the flowers as fresh as possible. Our cooler keeps the flowers at the right temperature to ensure they have the longest life when they are given to the recipient.

Orders are carefully made one by one each to their own brief and lined in the shop ready for their collection or delivery. There is always a nice buzz on the day as the shop is fully staffed, everyone is busy creating gorgeous arrangements and the shop is full of customers who are off to meet their loved ones.

As you can imagine our drivers are kept busy all day delivering our gorgeous creations all over Bury St Edmunds and the surrounding areas. We also have a stand full of gorgeous bespoke bouquets which are ready to walk out the door for those of you who like to leave things to the last minute!

Although Red Roses are the focal flower on Valentines Day, we find many women are over the moon to receive a bouquet of gorgeous spring flowers such as Tulips, Narsissi, Hyacinths and Ranunculus. We suggest ordering your flowers in advance to avoid any disappointment on the day however we can whip up a bouquet in 30 minutes if you want something made there and then!

Scarlett & Vinu – Culford School

Scarlett & Vinu are the epitome of young love!

Their wedding was held Culford Hall & onsite church, its 480 acres of beautiful grounds provided a wonderful environment for their wedding day.

All the bounty of the season were included in their wedding flowers. Beautiful David Austin roses were surrounded by cafe-au-lait dahlias, soft astilbe, nigella, scabious and delphiniums. The colour palette ranging from soft pinks through to lilacs and mauve which all complimented each other beautifully.

On the entrance to the church we created a trademark Tudor Rose arch in which Scarlett first walked under as Miss and emerged as Mrs! Trailing ferns and Jasmine gently flowed down to give it a delicate, natural feel.

In the hall of Culford school we created sumptuous punch bowls filled with the finest flowers following her theme. Three stunning long displays adorned the entire length of the top table to create a real impact in the historic room. We also dressed the fire places with fresh flower garlands.

Mother of the bride Samantha was such a dream to work with. Leaving so much of the flower choices up to us meant we had free reign to design these beautiful arrangements for her daughters wedding.

Flower School Success!

Our brand new Tudor Rose Flower School got off to a flying start over November and December!

Our Pumpkin and Prosecco workshops were the highlight of our November, creating quirky table centrepieces inside vivid orange pumpkins. The results were stunning, with everyone’s unique eye and style coming through it was so nice to see the different creations made by our talented ladies.

Then came December… the workshops consisted mainly of wreath making. All of our students had different tastes when it came to these. Some of our attendees wanted beautifully simple, rustic wreaths consisting of twigs and cones whereas others wanted all the trimmings to make theirs full of festive delights. Although the styles varied the results were all amazing!

We also hosted a few table centrepiece workshops, making beautiful centrepieces which contained fragrant pine, oranges, cinnamon and tapered candles.

Whether a complete novice or a dab hand at flower arranging,  one thing is for sure – all our lovely students we welcomed to the flower school last year thoroughly enjoyed themselves! We love how relaxed the classes felt, with chatter and laughter amongst friends, family, colleagues and us.

Thank you to all who attended courses last year and we are now really excited about the classes  already on our website for this season offer. Roll on spring! As well as fun afternoon workshops we will be hosting more intensive floristry sessions (both day-long and more extended courses). These perfect for students looking to the flower business as a possible career as well as those wanting to make full use of the bounty in their gardens.

Olivia & Lewis – Marquee Wedding

Who says that marquee weddings are only for the height of summer?!

Olivia and Lewis’s November marquee wedding was so magical. Their ceremony was held in St Mary’s Church, right in the heart of Bury St Edmunds, followed by a marquee in the grounds Olivia’s family home.

In the church we lined the aisle with dramatic groups of candles in varying height vases, which drew your eye down to the towering urns at the front which framed Olivia and Lewis perfectly.

Atmosphere is always key in marquees, as they are so tall you need the right lighting and decor to make it intimate and romantic, all of which was achieved perfectly in this case. Olivia opted for varying tall and low silver vases for her tables, the tall were finished with hanging orbs and t-lights.

The top table was adorned with a full length floral display of roses, hydrangea and soft eucalyptus, underlit by groups of candles in vases and flowers to add some drama. Candles also ran down the entire length of the table at different levels, which once the sun had gone down turned the marquee into an intimate and romantic space for dinner and speeches.

We were working along the most talented suppliers such as the gorgeous marquee from The Great Event Company, stunning cake by Amelie’s Kitchen and swoon-worthy food by Milsoms Weddings.

Dear The Tudor Rose Team. Thank you so much for helping us achieve the wedding of our dreams! You were amazing from start to finish and we cant thank you enough. The flowers looked incredible! You knew exactly what we wanted.
